Welcome
Dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure and an honor to invite you to attend the Emerging Materials Global Network Annual Meeting (EMGN-25), which will be held in-person and online from September 1 to 3, 2025, in the Congress Center of Istanbul Technical University in Türkiye. The EMGN Committees have taken an ambitious approach to launching the EMGN-25 this year. They hope to develop it shortly into the largest international materials science event in the Mediterranean and surrounding regions. Researchers from all fields of materials science throughout the world are invited to present and discuss their most recent research discoveries at EMGN-25 and to publish with Springer Nature their findings in the EMGN-25 Scopus-indexed proceedings.
After the remarkable successes of the Mediterranean Geosciences Union Annual Meetings (MedGU-21 in Istanbul, MedGU-22 in Marrakech, and MedGU-23 in Istanbul) aimed mainly at highlighting the contribution of the Earth sciences community in addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it became obvious that there is a need to expand this global scale initiative to create extensive and comprehensive international annual meetings for other science unions with the aim of bringing together researchers to present and discuss the most recent findings and contribute from their perspective to addressing the SDGs.
With this objective in mind and as a continuation of the tremendous success of the MedGU Annual Meetings, which have attracted an overwhelming interest with over 4000 abstract submissions from 95 countries, the EMGN-25 will be organized to provide a dynamic forum where materials scientists from all over the world, particularly those in the early stages of their careers, can be informed about the latest studies and discuss their latest unpublished findings with experts from the wide-ranging fields of materials science.
Why attend EMGN 2025?
Engage with Global Expertise: EMGN-25 brings together a distinguished group of experts from across the global materials science community. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to interact with top researchers, renowned scientists, and industry pioneers who are at the forefront of advancing materials science. This diverse gathering offers a wealth of knowledge and insights, fostering a rich environment for learning and professional growth.
Discover Innovative Research: EMGN-25 is an opportunity to explore the latest breakthroughs and cutting-edge research in materials science. It will feature presentations and discussions on pioneering advancements in areas such as nanotechnology, biomaterials, smart materials, and sustainable materials. Attendees can immerse themselves in a wide range of innovative studies and projects that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the field.
Focus on Sustainable Solutions: EMGN-25 promotes critical discussions on how emerging materials can address pressing environmental and societal challenges. Sessions will highlight sustainable solutions that promote environmental stewardship and social responsibility. From renewable energy materials to biodegradable alternatives, attendees will learn how the latest innovations are contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future.
Expand Your Network: EMGN-25 offers a forum for building valuable connections with peers, potential collaborators, and industry leaders. It offers numerous opportunities for networking through interactive sessions, panel discussions, and social events. These connections can lead to future partnerships, collaborative research projects, and significant advancements in your work. The conference’s diverse attendee base ensures a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives.
Gain Practical Insights: In addition to theoretical knowledge, EMGN-25 provides attendees with practical insights into the application of advanced materials in various industries. Workshops and hands-on sessions will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of how to implement innovative materials in real-world scenarios, enhancing their practical skills and knowledge.
Influence Policy and Regulation: EMGN-25 is an opportunity to engage in discussions that go beyond scientific advancements to address policy, regulation, and the societal impacts of materials science. These sessions are crucial for shaping a future where innovations are not only technologically advanced but also ethically sound and effectively regulated.
Align with Global Goals: EMGN-25 serves as a gateway for delegates to contribute materials science research in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sessions will explore the role of materials science in achieving global sustainability targets, providing a broader context for their research and its potential impact on society.
As with the previous MedGU Annual Meetings (see SpringerLink), the latest research findings presented at EMGN Annual Meeting 2025 will be published in the conference proceedings by Springer in the IEREK Interdisciplinary Series for Sustainable Development ASTI Book Series (indexed in Scopus/ SCImago) and in Special Issues, with a clear mission to encourage greater scientific cooperation and to open doors to new and enriching collaborations between materials scientists on the opposite shores of the Mediterranean and from all over the world.
We warmly invite you to join us in the vibrant and historic city of Istanbul from September 1 to 3, 2025, for EMGN-25. This event promises to be a landmark gathering that will drive the advancement of materials science. Set against the backdrop of Istanbul’s rich cultural heritage, the conference will provide an inspiring venue to share knowledge, foster collaborations, and envision the future of our field. We are planning a rich Conference Program, including regular and Special Sessions, a Social Program, and an Excursion to Cappadocia, where participants can take a little time out to explore the wonders of Türkiye and discover new experiences and sensations.
Your participation, in person or virtually, will support EMGN’s mission of ensuring a sustainable future for humanity in the region and the planet. Together, we can harness the transformative power of materials science to create a brighter future for humanity and our planet. Join us in shaping the future, one material at a time!
Yours sincerely,
The EMGN-25 Steering & Organizing Committees
